Harry Charles Schenk Jr.

Harry Charles Schenk Jr., age 83 of Maryville, IL formerly of Cahokia, IL, born April 10, 1929 in St. Louis, MO, passed away 4:25 am on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. Louis, MO.

He retired as a machinist helper from Western Supplies Tool & Die Company in St. Louis, MO.  He was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Flying Legionaries of Cahokia, IL and the Maryville Gun Club.  He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Centerville, IL for 33 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry Charles and Leona nee Dittmeyer Schenk Sr., a son Harry Charles Schenk III, a sister Agnes Schenk, and a brother-in-law George “Dub” Ray.

He is survived by his wife Rosemarie nee Porcelli Schenk whom he married on January 1, 1950, a daughter Janice (Philip “Flip”) McGovern of Collinsville, IL, two granddaughters Stephanie and Anna McGovern of Collinsville IL, three sisters Rosemary Ray, Mardell (Ken) Geiger, and Carol (John) Santoyo all of St. Louis, MO, one brother Larry (Karen) Schenk of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home 2800 North Center Maryville, IL.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30am Thursday, October 18, 2012 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church 207 Vandalia Collinsville, IL with Father Pat Jakel officiating.  Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, where military honors will be presented.
