Gilbert P. "Gib" Miesner


  Gilbert P. "Gib" Miesner of Glen Carbon, IL. formerly of Farrar died December 7, 2010 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL.  He was 85.

  He was born in Brazeau, MO on December 22, 1924 son of the late Otto Joseph and Ella Maria (Koenig) Miesner.  He and Lois Maxine Keen Miesner were married on February 3, 1951.  She survives in Glen Carbon, IL.

  He is survived by five sons; Timothy (Susan) Miesner of Katy, TX, Thomas (Kathy) Miesner of Katy, TX., Frederick (Diane) Miesner of Frohna, John (Glenda) Miesner of Fairfax, VA., Daniel (Laura) Miesner of Frohna, three daughters; Kristine (Rodney) Sherrill of Carterville, IL., Deborah (Thomas) Hart of St. Louis, Sarah (Harold) Goldammer of Edwardsville, IL., three brothers; Elmer Miesner of St. Louis, Dr. Donald Miesner of Ballwin, MO., Dr. E. L. Miesner of Perryville, four sisters; Lily Ochs & Arlene Lohmann of Perryville, Vera Ruessler & Ruth Shannon of St. Louis, nineteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Clinton & Rev. Willis Miesner.

     Mr. Miesner was a Dairy Farmer. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Salem Mens Club, Salem Senior Servants, World War II U.S. Army Veteran and former District 32 School Board.

    A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Salem Lutheran Church at 11:00 am with Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of Service at 11:00 am with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 133.  Mr. Miesner donated his body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

   Memorials are preferred to Lutheran Hour Ministries, Salem Lutheran Church, or Hospice of Southern Illinois.             .
