Mildred I. Kuykendall, age 95, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Collinsville, IL, born November 9, 1921 in Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL.
She was a retired secretary at UMB Bank and was also employed as a travel agent for the former McCormick Travel Agency in Collinsville, IL. Mildred was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Collinsville, a line dance instructor, and loved working crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Pearl (nee Davis) Stephens; her husband, Mertin Kuykendall; brothers Phillip and Carl; and a sister, Hazel.
She is survived by two daughters: Sharrel (Roy) Robertson of Collinsville, IL and Marsha (Steve Robertson) Voss of California; four grandchildren: Shari (Rob) Mathenia, Jason (Nancy) Robertson, Carrie Voss, and Sarah Voss; and four great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Thomas, Ben, and Michael.
The family would like to thank the Meridian Village facility and staff, Darryl Davis, and Hospice of Southern Illinois for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 as well as from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Brad Thomas officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or First United Presbyterian Church.
