Lody Peter Milkovich

Lody Peter Milkovich, age 88 of Glen Carbon, IL, born June 27, 1928 in Granite City, IL passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family.

Lody graduated from Granite City Community High School.  He worked as a pattern maker for 40+ years at American Steel, and also had worked for Boeing.  He was an Army veteran receiving the Army OCC medal in Germany.  Lody was an active member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville.  He was involved with Croatian Relief Effort, Collinsville Khoury League, and was an avid bowler and craftsman.

He never looked for praises.  He was never one to boast.  He just went on quitely working for the ones he loved the most.  His dreams were seldom spoken.  His wants were very few.  And most of the time his worries went unspoken too.  He was there ... a firm foundation through all our storms of life.  A sturdy hand to hold on to in times of stress and strife.  A true friend we could turn to when times were good or bad.  One of our greatest blessings ... the man we called our dad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Sylvia nee Lisac Milkovich; his first wife, Mary nee Knez Milkovich; two brothers: Joseph and Leo Milkovich and an infant brother, Joe; a sister, Stephanie Graff; and a grandson, Timothy Milkovich.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie nee Nemet Milkovich, whom he married in September of 1982; two sons:  Marty (Tamela) Milkovich of Staunton, IL and Michael (Ellen) Milkovich of Collinsville, IL; a daughter-in-law, Julie Clayton of Glen Carbon, IL; three grandchildren:  Crystal (Roy) Middleton, Danielle (David) Cox, and Andrew Milkovich; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Bill) Haug of Granite City, IL; sister-in-law, Helen Milkovich of Mt. Olive, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
