Edward Daniel "Dan" Massander

Edward Daniel “Dan” Massander age 69 of Maryville, IL born January 21, 1942 in Maryville, IL passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his residence.

Dan was retired from ATCOM in St. Louis, MO after 12 years of service. He previously worked for Laclede Steel in Madison, IL and Alton, IL for 17 years. He was a Vietnam Army veteran who was in the 1st calvary airborne division. He attained a Vietnam service medal and was an expert rifleman.  He was a member of the Maryville American Legion Post #917 and St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville.  He enjoyed deer and mushroom hunting, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wood working.  He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward T. and Victoria nee Cummings Massander, a brother William Massander, a sister Mary Margaret Picchioldi, and a brother-in-law Jerry Nelson.

He is survived by his wife Connie nee McClaskey Massander whom he married January 9, 1965; two daughters Beth (Luke) Allan of Troy, IL and Stacey (Robert) Stenger of Collinsville, IL;  one sister Wanda (John) Whitwell of Maryville, IL; brother-in-law Albert Picchioldi of Maryville, IL; brother-in-law Dan (Caryl) McClaskey of Collinsville, IL; sister-in-law Pat Nelson of Collinsville, IL; six grandchildren Luke Allan II, Paige Allan, Danica Allan, Zachary Stenger, Alexander Stenger, and Jackson Stenger , numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog, Oscar.

Visitation will be Monday, September 5, 2011 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL  62062.

Funeral Service will be at 11 am on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Katie Jo Fuller officiating.  Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.
