Henry E. Seaman

Henry Elwood Seaman, age 78 of Maryville, IL, born April 13, 1938 in Ft. Smith, AR, passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at his residence.

Henry was a retired railroad engineer with the Norfolk & Southern Railroad. He was also a Navy Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal for his service. In his early years he competed in horse shows, and he played and coached a men’s slow-pitch softball team for many years. Over the last 25 years he loved camping at Cool Creek resort, where he was loved and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Elwood and Juanita (nee Webb) Seaman; a son, Charles Raymond Seaman; a brother, Raymond Seaman; and a sister, Tami Bates.

He is survived by his wife, Marian (nee Eickemyer) Seaman, whom he married on December 14, 1957; two sons: Daryl (Becky) Seaman of Collinsville, and Raymond Seaman of Highland; a daughter, Cheryl (Ron) Vallero of Maryville, IL; six grandchildren:  Ashley (Nathan) Duschek, Aaron Vallero, Amanda, Taylor, Miranda, and Peyton Seaman; two great grandsons: Henry and Ryder Duschek; three sisters: Lynda (James) Leroy of Fairview Heights; Judy (Tom) Ovitt of Springfield, MO, and Vickie (James) Franke of Springfield, MO;  numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL, immediately followed by a funeral service to begin at 7:30 p.m. with Robert Morgan officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.
