Shirley J. Wyatt

Shirley J. nee Reed Wyatt, age 85 of Collinsville, IL, born September 3, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Liberty Village Care Center in Maryville, IL. 

Shirley was a 1948 Collinsville High School graduate and then attended Northwestern College.  She was the retired owner and operator of the former McCormick Travel Agency in Collinsville; a member of the National Association of Travel Agents and Dulcimer Club.  She attended First Baptist Collinsville Church, and was a past choir member. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Seth A. and Georgia A. nee Collins Reed; a sister, Betty Detchman; and a brother, Charles Taylor. 

She is survived by her husband, Clay H. Wyatt, whom she married September 22, 1950; three daughters:  Carla (Gene) Shiver of Collinsville, IL, Paula (Kent) Ward of Oakland Township, MI, and Leah (Frank) Gavlick of Collinsville, IL; 7 grandchildren:  Seth (Cara) Shiver of Mansfield, TX, Nathan (Sarah) Shiver of Loveland, CO, Joshua (Katie) Shiver of Collinsville, IL, Caleb (Jill) Ward of Almont, MI, Tara (Nate) Mesyn of East Lansing, MI, Cally (Ryan) Siegel of Collinsville, IL and Kendra Gavlick of Collinsville; 15 great grandchildren:  Mia and Jesse Shiver, Cole, Reese and Clay Ward, Austin Gavlick, Aylah and Ashton Siegel, Breslyn and Boone Mesyn, Bode, Blake, Hadassah, Caz and Bridger Shiver; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 723 St. Louis Road, Collinsville, IL. 

Funeral service will be at 1pm following the visitation with Rev. Greg Pratt, Rev. Nathan Shiver, and Rev. Jim Brinkman officiating. Burial will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Collinsville, IL. 

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Heartland Hospice, and will be accepted at the visitation or can be mailed to the Barry Wilson Funeral Home.
