William "Bill" Weiser

William “Bill” Weiser, age 82 of Collinsville, IL born January 28, 1934 in Maplewood, MO passed away at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Bill was a lifelong Collinsville resident graduating in 1951 from CHS then went onto college to attain his Bachelor’s Degree at SIU Carbondale.  He started his career as a salesman with Central Fire & Safety (formerly Allsafe) and retired from the former Banner Fire & Equipment in Collinsville, IL selling industrial safety and fire-fighting equipment in a six state area. He was a Marine Veteran.    During the Korean War he attained the rank of Sergeant with the Air Intelligence Division of the U.S. Marine Corps.  He loved the Lady Collinsville Kahoks, puppy dogs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with the young Indian guides and Boy Scouts. He coached baseball and soccer.  He was awarded lifetime membership with the Collinsville Soccer Association.  These were his finest hours.  His last wish to all was to “seek out” the most beautiful sound in the world – that of children laughing at play.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence William and Augusta nee Grotz Weiser; and two sisters:  Bernice and Shirley Weiser.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara nee McCormick Weiser, whom he married on September 15, 1956 and truly loved so much; three sons:  Will B. (Joan) Weiser of Fairview Heights, IL, Jay R. Weiser of Mendota, IL and Clay M. (Kathleen) Weiser of Punta Garda, FL; three grandchildren:  Morgan Weiser of Edwardsville, IL, Brittany (Brian) Weiser-Baumgartner of Worden, IL, and Taylor Weiser of Effingham, IL; one great-grandson, Wesley Baumgartner; six step grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Malter of Collinsville, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special mention to his mentor and best friend, Dr. Harry Rainbolt of Manhatten, KS - a classmate in grade school, high school and college, a fine fellow and true friend.
