Melvin G. Moore

Melvin G. Moore age 84 of Highland, IL born October 20, 1926 in Pocahontas, IL was peacefully taken into the comforting arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday August 11, 2011 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. 

Melvin was a retired carpenter.  He was a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America local 179 since 1947. Melvin was the longest living union card holder from local 179.  His family has great pride in his skilled craftsmanship and eye for detail which is displayed in each of the four family homes he built.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Moore Sr. and Rena nee Elson Sidwell, a grandson Jimi Cummins, and a brother Harold "Bud" Moore.

He is survived by three daughters Jeannie (Peggy Pfeiffer) Artimisi, Marilyn (James) Cummins, Pamela (Jack) Forrester, five grandchildren Terrissa McHugh, Camille McCullough, Travis Cummins, Michael Robinson, Josephine Forrester and 12 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters Chester Moore, Evelyn (Henry) Kuhlman, Vivian (Bernard) Stelzer, Ralph Moore Jr., and Margaret Kirsch.

Visitation will be Sunday August 14, 2011 from 3pm to 6pm at Barry Wilson Funeral Home 2800 North Center Maryville, IL 62062.

Funeral services will be Monday August 15, 2011 at 11am at Barry Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Maynard officiating.  Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery Edwardsville, IL.
