William Franklin Seib, Jr.
William F. Seib, Jr. of Twain Harte, CA was called to the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2015 after a short bout with pneumonia. He was born in Belleville, IL to William F. and Shirley M. (White) Seib on December 2, 1947. He lived most on his adolescent life in Collinsville, IL and considered Collinsville “home”. To say Billy had a full life would be a gross understatement. He was a 1965 graduate of Collinsville High School and after a distinguished military service, continued on to college at SIU- Edwardsville. He graduated From the University of Hawaii with Bachelors’ degrees in both Political Science and Psychology.
Bill entered the service in 1968 and graduated from the US Army Officer’s Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA. He served two tours in Vietnam and in 1971 was wounded by a land mine and lost his left leg. He received many honors including a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was discharged from active duty at the rank of Captain. His contact with the Army didn’t end there, though.
He worked with the Veterans Service Center helping countless veterans who were returning from the Vietnam War. He was also a lobbyist for the VA working in Washington, D.C.
Billy’s nickname was Boojie or Booj and most of his friends and family would call him that as a loving term of endearment. He was a dedicated fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Blues hockey. Even living in California or Hawaii, he made sure he could watch the Cards games and never missed any.
While living and working in Aiea, Hawaii, he would mentor young men and take them on retreats into the mountains to teach them the meaning of life and how to conduct themselves in society. His love of nature continued when he returned to the mainland where he was a Forest Ranger in the MiWuk Dist. of Stanislaus National Forest in northern California. He served as a Public Information Officer and earned a USDA Certificate of Merit for going above and beyond his regular duties.
He was an accomplished writer, bartender, husband, father, brother and friend. Put that next to everything else he accomplished in life, and all you can say is “Well done Boojie. Well done.”
He was preceded in death by his son, Adam Jonn Seib, father William F.Seib, Sr., Paternal grandparents Hildebert (Bub) and Alta Seib and Maternal grandparents George and Mildred White
Survivors include his wife Ann (Maechler) Seib of Twain Harte, CA, mother Shirley M.
