Winifred "Winnie" Palecek

Winifred “Winnie” W. nee Weaver Palecek, age 94 of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of Collinsville, born in St. Louis, MO on April 17, 1917, died June 29, 2011 at her residence.

She was a retired sales associate for Dillard's Department Stores.  For over 80 years Winnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Collinsville.  She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge, and the Methodist Church Pricilla Circle.  She was a former election judge in Collinsville, having served for many years.  She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Palecek, her parents, John and Flora nee Massey Weaver, a daughter, Sandra Kutzera, and a sister, Marie Barton.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Bohnenstiehl of Collinsville; a son Jim (Carol) Palecek of Tulsa, OK; a son-in-law Vince Kutzera of Edwardsville, IL; three grandchildren: Shelley (Tom) Skosky of Collinsville, Kris (Sarah) Bohnenstiehl of Edwardsville, Erin (Eric) Salmon of Florissant, MO; four great grandchildren: Vinny Skosky of Collinsville, Ava Bohnenstiehl of Edwardsville, Jacob Bohnenstiehl of Edwardsville, and Norah Salmon of Florissant, MO; a niece and nephews, and a former son-in-law Chuck (Peggy) Bohnenstiehl of Maryland Heights, MO.

Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2011 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL  62062.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 2, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Collinsville with the Rev. Mark Horn officiating.  Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville.
