Roy Francis Kerfoot
Roy Francis Kerfoot, age 96 of Maryville, IL, born November 4, 1918 in Kennett, MO, passed away at 5:47 am on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL.
He retired as an electrician for Century Electric, Electric National Street Car Company, and Scullin Steel, all of St. Louis, MO. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Collinsville as well as the Glenview Assembly of God in Granite City. Roy served in the U.S. Army from February 16, 1943 to November 14, 1945 and was a WWII veteran. During his tour he was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Ribbon, four overseas bars and Victory Ribbon. His hobbies were trains, which the grandchildren all loved, woodworking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Rev. Frieda Ivus nee Richards Kerfoot, whom he married November 15, 1941; his parents, Rufus and Mary nee Oliver Kerfoot; a daughter, Dorothy Hopper; a grandson, Charlie Manegre; a great great grandchild; and two brothers, Oliver and Jack Kerfoot.
He is survived by a son, James (Lynne) Kerfoot of Maryville; two daughters: Betty Goforth of Maryville and Donna (Robert) Manegre of Valley Park, MO; 23 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10am on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Wilson and Rev. Rich Cope officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis, MO with military honors.
Memorials may be made to Illinois District Council Synergy Fund, a fund which pioneers new churches, or Wounded Warriors. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.
