Leo P. Kerkemeyer

Leo P. Kerkemeyer, 82, of Collinsville, IL, born February 13, 1929 in Granite City, IL, died early Tuesday morning June 14, 2011 at Anderson Hospital Maryville, IL.

Leo was a carpenter for 60 years having retired from Granite City Local 633. He was a member, usher, and a Wednesday Warrior at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus 1712, and a Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ associate.  He was a Korean War Army veteran, and his hobbies included wood working, puzzles and playing cards.  He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ottilia (Straubinger) Kerkemeyer, sister, Rose Jones, sister-in-laws, Jerry and Margaret Kerkemeyer, Dorothy Kampwerth, brother-in laws Leonard and Maurice Kampwerth, and a step granddaughter Samantha Bencze.

Surviving are his wife, Alice (Kampwerth) Kerkemeyer, his five sons, David (Cindy) of Glendale, AZ, Alan (Lynn) of Maryville, IL, Donald (Peggy) of Collinsville IL, Gary (Melanie) of Camarillo, CA, and Mark (Darla) of Katy, TX, one daughter, Janice Mallioux of Florissant, MO; eleven grandchildren Shawna, Grant, Kyle (Ashley), Emily, Kelly, Matthew, Courtney, Ryan and Madeline Kerkemeyer, Brian and Jason Mallioux; one step granddaughter Stephanie Bencze; five brothers Paul of Wentzville, MO, Elmer of Collinsville, IL, Edward (Joan) of Bethalto, IL, Raymond (Mary Jane) of Edwardsville, IL and Frank (Ruth) of Naperville, IL; two brother-in-laws, Leland Jones and Fred Blum; three sister-in-laws Bertha Kampwerth, Dodie Blum and Sister Annamarie Kampwerth, PHJC.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4PM to 8PM Thursday, June 16, 2011 and 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Friday, June 17, 2011 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church Collinsville, with prayer services beginning at 4PM Thursday evening.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Friday, June 17, 2011 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father John Beveridge officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.
