Ruby A. "Mickey" Tudor
Ruby A. “Mickey” Tudor (nee Earl), age 94, of Independence, MO, passed away Friday May 31, 2013. Ruby was born to Elton and Mary Earl on January 15, 1919, in a farmhouse in Yuma County, CO. She was one of nine children and was the sole surviving member of the family until her passing. She attended a variety of country schools in the west and Midwest before graduating from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO in 1936. Ruby married Walter Allen Tudor in November 1937, and the union resulted in two children, Richard and Carol. Ruby worked at Lake City Arsenal during WWII and later worked as a saleswoman at JC Penney for 25 years. She was a lifelong resident of Independence, MO, from her graduation from high school until her retirement in the early 1980’s. She was a resident of Lee’s Summit and later lived in Aiea, Hawaii, for several years with her son, Richard. In the last year of her life, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Carol, in their country home in Vienna, MO, where she passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends. Ruby came into the world during the age of the Model T and the flight of Charles Lindberg (whom his family saw passing through Colorado with The Spirit of St. Louis), lived through WWII as a defense worker and the spouse of a combat soldier, and survived to see the age of computers and the Boeing 787. After her retirement, she traveled extensively and visited many sites across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii; she was often accompanied by her sisters, Mary and Ada, her niece, Mary Gale, and a brother=in-law, Milburn Cochran. She also toured England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Ruby is survived by her son, Richard Tudor of Alea, Hawaii, and her daughter Carol Tudor of Vienna, MO, her grandchildren, Carl Spilker of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Dr. Trish Hurford of Edwardsville, IL, Tony Spilker of Independence, MO, Kathleen Seymour of Kansas City, MO, US Army Sergeant Andrew Kell of Ramstein AFB, Germany, and Laura Tudor of Millwaukee, WI; her great grandchildren, Savannah and Jordan Spilker, both of Ponte Verda Beach, and Sydney, Ian, and Ainsley Hurford, all of Edwardsville, IL. She lived life well and is remembered fondly and lovingly by family and friends.
Memorial visitation will be from 5pm to 5:30pm on Saturday July 19, 2014 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home 2800 North Center Street Maryville, IL.
Memorial services will be at 5:30pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Autism Society of America.
