Daniel G. Moad, Sr.

Daniel G. Moad, Sr., age 69 of Maryville, IL born August 15, 1944 in Oakdale, CA passed away at 5:45 pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his loving family.

Daniel graduated Venice High School in 1962 and studied at SIUE.  He was retired from the US Government in Logistics and Supplies at ATCOM in St. Louis, MO.  He was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, IL, and the Maryville Knights of Columbus Council #6625.  Daniel was an Air Force Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #307 in Pontoon Beach, IL.  He was an avid golfer, at one time active in the Collinsville Khoury League, St. John Neumann Athletics, and was a former athletic director of St. John Neumann Catholic School.  He loved to attend his grandkids sporting events. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow W. and Pansy nee Wallace Moad; two sisters:  Esther Jakich and Betty McCunney; and three brothers:  Jack, Ed and Woodrow Moad. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann “Cookie” nee Slemer Moad, whom he married on February 7, 1970; two sons:  Daniel (Cindy) Moad, Jr. of Maryville, IL and Brian (Rachael) Moad of Glen Carbon, IL; a daughter, Diann Moad of Collinsville, IL; six grandchildren:  Brant, Trent, Mitchell, Carsyn, Cooper, and Katelynn; a sister, Mary Whiteside of Marquand, MO; a brother-in-law, Bill McCunney of Madison, IL; a sister-in-law, Louise Moad of Granite City, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm Monday, May 19, 2014 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.  Visitation will open with a prayer service at 4pm. 

Funeral mass will be 10am Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange, Maryville, IL with Father Joseph Havrilka celebrant.  Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL with military honors.
