Joseph T. "Bud" Willett

Joseph T. “Bud” Willett, age 86 of Collinsville, IL, born March 10, 1928 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away at 5:58 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. 

Bud was a retired paint contractor and owner of Bright White Laundramats in Collinsville.  He was a Ford “Model A” restorer for 25 years, was an avid hunter, fisherman, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals & Blues fan.  He was a navy veteran and attained a World War II victory medal.  The family would like to give a special thanks to SSM Hospice for their loving care and support especially Kathy B., Gwen, and Mary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ewing and Reva nee Thompson Willett; a sister, Margaret Murline Sutton; and a brother George Donald Willett.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy nee Chapman Willett, whom he married on September 23, 1950; two sons: David J. (Lynn) Willett of Sylvania, OH, and Doug W. Willett of Waco, TX; two grandchildren:   Stacy (Shawn) Richard of Columbus, OH, Kelly Sommers of Oregon, OH; and two great grandchildren:  Josephina and Henry Richard; brother-in-law, Jim (Shelby) Chapman of Collinsville, IL; a sister-in-law, Leonard (Joan) Massa of Maryville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Fairmont City, IL with Father David Wilke celebrant.  Burial will be in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.

Memorials may be made to SSM Hospice of Glen Carbon, IL, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or in the form of masses.
