Margaret M. Schaffer
Margaret M. Schaffer age 82 of Collinsville, IL, formerly of Cahokia, IL, born December 14, 1930 in Red Bud, IL, passed away at 11:50am on Monday December 9, 2013 at her residence.
Margaret graduated from St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis, IL. She was a homemaker and a former employee for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL. She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, IL, also a member of the Columbia American Legion Post #581 auxiliary and formerly served as a historian.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hugh Joseph and Mattie Mary nee Robart McMullan, a brother Leon McMullan and a granddaughter Donna Schaffer.
She is survived by her husband Edward D. Schaffer whom she married on June 1, 1957, a son Timothy (Angela) Schaffer of Cahokia, IL, a daughter Barbara (Peter) Stehman of Collinsville, IL, grandchildren Jenny (Eric) Hayes, David (Elisha) Schaffer, Nicole and Robert Schaffer, Courtney, Christopher and Nathan Stehman, great grandchildren Audrey and Dominic Hayes, Devin Cason, and Malia Schaffer, a brother Dennis (Marie) McMullan of Waterloo, IL, two sisters Patricia McMullan of Columbia, IL, Lucy (Robert) Ahne of Carbondale, IL, a sister-in-law Janet McMullan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be at 11am on Saturday December 28, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church 116 Church Street Cahokia, IL 62206 with Father Paul Weinhoff celebrant. Upon Margaret’s request her body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.
