Raymond G. Wiehardt
Raymond G. Wiehardt, age 88 of Collinsville, IL, born November 28, 1924 in Granite City, IL passed away at 4:31 am Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was a 1943 graduate of Granite City High School and an Army Veteran that served our country during WW II. He retired from Granite City Steel after 37 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #365 in Collinsville, Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, was an avid Cardinals fan, and enjoyed following his grandsons in sports.
Above all, the most important thing in his life was his family. He was an exceptional person and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Ray will be deeply missed by all, but his memory and spirit will live on forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary nee Weber Wiehardt; mother and father-in-law, Gladys and Louis Kunz; brothers: Edward, Hugo, Anthony, and Vincent Wiehardt; sister, Stella Wiehardt; two brothers-in-law: Walter Landers and William Gilomen, Sr; two sisters-in-law: Anna and Norma Wiehardt; two nephews: William Gilomen, Jr. and Walter Landers, Jr; and an infant daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Helen nee Gilomen Wiehardt, whom he married May 25, 1946; daughter, Pamela (Carl) Collignon of Maryville, IL; grandchildren: Michael (Michelle) Collignon of Glen Carbon, IL and Bradley Collignon of Maryville, IL; great grandchildren: Madilyn and Matthew of Glen Carbon, IL; brother, Robert (Ann) Wiehardt of Troy, IL; sisters: Rita Hornberger of St. Charles, MO and Dorothy Landers of Staunton, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Upon his request, Raymond’s body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine.
