Melodie A. Counton
Melodie A. Counton age 70 of Wood River, IL, born January 29, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, passed away at 12:15pm Friday February 8, 2013 at the St. John’s Mercy Skilled Nursing Center in St. Louis, MO.
Melodie was very involved in the family business, she managed the office of JTC Petroleum and the former WJ Counton Oil Company for over 50 years. She was a member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Alton, IL for many years, and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Jennings Counton whom she married June 20, 1964, they vowed to be there for each other in sickness and in health, in good times and in difficult times, and together they would celebrate anniversaries and the births of their children and grandchildren, her parents Paul G. and Luella Emma nee Ahmann Parko, and a brother Paul S. “Catfish” Parko.
She is survived by two sons Jeff (Christi) Counton of Maryville, IL and Tim (Stacey) Counton of Dorsey, IL, seven grandchildren Alli, Hunter, Chase, Tad, Trent, Sydney, and Ty, three sister-in-laws Connie Counton Andersen of Rosewood Heights, IL, Nancy Parko of Alton, IL, and Midge Counton of Oshkosh, WI, a brother-in-law Vernon Andersen of Bethalto, IL, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday February 16, 2013 from 11am to 12 noon at the College Avenue Presbyterian Church 1702 Clawson Street Alton, IL.
Memorial services will be on Saturday at 12 noon at the church with the Rev. Dale Jackson officiating. There will be a reception for family and friends on Saturday at the Moose Lodge 730 Wesley Dr, Wood River, IL, at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation 60 East 56th Street 8th floor New York, NY 10022.
